I was trying to do this exercise where you make a storyboard of a memory from childhood. It was really hard for me to think of anything that wasn't too bizarre or tragic... Anyways I finally settled on hair, because, as a black woman, it's always been a big issue, but really it's hilarious that it should cause so many problems.
The premise: So it was the norm back in the 80's, before the awesomeness of the flat iron was invented, for little black girls to have their hair combed with something called a "hot comb". It was a ceramic comb, that you literally had to put on the stove to make hot, which would then be used to straighten the hair and make it more manageable. I don't know if people still use this... I sure as hell wouldn't. That thing was scary! Just think, if mom hit your ear by mistake - ouch!
Isn't it scary folks?Of course, you couldn't get wet after all this trouble, 'cause the hair would just go back to its puffy state.
Anyways this is just me messing around. I have no idea if this actually works...
